Campaign at Goal!
January 14, 2020 – An anonymous donor has given $1 million to the Owen Sound Regional Hospital Foundation for the MRI fundraising initiative. A local family made the donation in recognition of the great care they have received at Grey Bruce Health Services, and their wish is to ensure that same quality of care continues.
“It is an honour for our family to support this important piece of medical equipment,” said a family representative. “We have enjoyed living in this community, and we are grateful and proud we have an opportunity to give back.”
This remarkable donation is the largest single donation from a family or individual received by the Foundation. “What an amazing family. I am privileged to work with them, and they are truly philanthropic leaders in our community,” said Amy McKinnon, Executive Director, Owen Sound Regional Hospital Foundation. “Thanks to their investment, the five foundations that support Grey Bruce Health Services have now reached our target of $4.7 million for the new MRI.”
The family hopes their donation will inspire others to support the ongoing needs for new and replacement medical equipment to keep our local health care services strong.
“Thanks to the generosity of this family, the many other individuals, businesses and organizations who have donated, and to our energetic Foundations, we will have our new MRI installed and up and running by this summer,” said Gary Sims, GBHS President and CEO. “This new technology is faster, quieter, produces extremely high quality images, and will help reduce wait times for patients in our area.”
The five foundations who have worked together to raise $4.7 million in just under two years are the Owen Sound Regional Hospital Foundation, Bruce Peninsula Health Services Foundation, Centre Grey Health Services Foundation, Meaford Hospital Foundation and the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation.
